Jeffrey and Briana are pagan parents, practitioners, and soulmates. With Jeffrey trained as a shaman and Bri's background in Reiki and herbal healing, they devote their time to teaching and serving the spiritual community through Old Ways and their holistic healing practice.
My earliest memories of my spiritual path appear when I was a tiny child. I was born remembering both past lives and the space between lifetimes. Spirituality for me started as a toddler in my dreams, expanded to books by the time I was old enough to read, and I began applying what I had learned by the time I was in grade school.
I was raised in a Pentecostal household, trained by a Native American shaman, and studied with an old crone of Roma ("gypsy") decent. My path has led me down both Buddhist and Taoist paths. Wonderful incarnated teachers have offered me lessons and I've learned directly from the spirit world and the weave of Nature. I was encouraged to enter the ministry, initiated into a hierarchal Wiccan Circle, and have led covens of witches and prayer circles filled with Christians. On every path, the core concepts have been the same. Reach for the sacred. Manifest and nurture love. Let go of the things that keep you from doing either.
Because I see spirituality as something that can be found on any path, I strongly encourage students and readers to find their own path, the one that resonates with their own heart and truly works for them. Spiritual diversity is incredibly important in my world. From my humble perspective, diversity makes us strong and balanced as a spiritual community, while adhering to one approved path not only closes our minds, but places limits on how all-encompassing the divine truly is.
In 1992, I began teaching the lessons that I learned along the way. A personal Web site grew out of those teachings and, on the Spring Equinox of 1997, I decided to make those writings a little more formal. I was practicing paganism at the time and an email was sent out to a handful of online pagan friends with an accompanying article, simply asking, "If you like it, please pass it on." One person passed it to another and, ten year later, Old Ways is still going strong.
I've never stopped growing or pursuing my own spiritual path, so what I offer here can sometimes be a little messy as I try to get a grasp on the core concept of a lesson I'm working with in my own life. When things get intense I may stop writing for a time, but I always come back to offer some new nugget of wisdom or hard earned insight before heading off once more to blaze my own spiritual trail. I'm committed to keeping Old Ways free of charge - as it has been since the very first article, more than ten years ago.
However, as numerous readers have pointed out over the course of the last decade, they want to give something back as a way of saying thanks. If you'd like to lend a hand, Bri and I have a few suggestions as to how you can help.
