The Shaman's Cave

June 24, 2008

We're bedding in for the night after driving over 1,100 miles in a day and a half and ending up in Utah (far from our home in Salem, Oregon). I'll have a full report a little later, but today's adventure found us hiking overland to explore Native American ritual sites in Nevada that haven't been used in hundreds (if not thousands) of years. It was a ritualistic chain of sites that connected with the flow of the landscape to lead the seeker to a cave covered in petroglyphs.

We're hoping to explore some Anasazi ruins before everything is said and done. Tomorrow will be another adventure, although we're going to spend the morning putting together a list of places we'd like to see. This is also the last night we're intending to stay in a hotel (we brought fully loaded packs and backpacking gear), so I most likely won't be able to post any additional blogs until this weekend.
