Offline Calendar

We make our living by serving you, the spiritual community. That means that we're out and about, attending festivals, teaching workshops and classes, and putting ourselves out where you can reach us. In addition to our holistic healing practice, I teach classes on a wide range of spiritual and magickal topic. Chances are, you can find us out in the community, doing some sort of work and giving all that we can. If you're organizing an event, please feel free to contact me at jeffrey@oldways.com and I'll see if we can fit it into our calendar. If you're looking to find us out and about in the offline world, start with the calendar below.

Magick 101: Magickal Energy Work

Moving energy beyond what we can feel in order to influence the world around us is the focus of nearly all magickal work. The techniques that were learned in the previous three classes come together as we consider the concept of ritual work. From empowering your morning cup of coffee to working spells to attract money, interpret your dreams, or heal a sickness, you've learned all of the necessary techniques, it's just a matter of understanding how to weave them together. We'll work a simple blessing spell at the midpoint of the class, consider the implications of ritual work in a group and solitary environments, and touch briefly on magickal defense, other plane work, and candle magick. The last half of the class will involve working a group ritual with the intent of blessing those in attendance and opening the appropriate doors to facilitate future growth.

Class: Past Lives and Reincarnation

We've lived before - and we'll live again. The concept isn't as crazy as it sounds. In fact, when looked at from a logical and open-minded perspective, reincarnation actually makes more sense than any other possible explanation for our current lives as human beings.

This class will introduce you to the concepts of reincarnation, it's acceptance in numerous world religions (including early Christianity), and how past and future lives can influence everything from your health to your spiritual path. We'll be doing two concrete exercises designed to help you remember your past lives with the goal of leaving the class with glimpses of at least two of your previous incarnations.

Magick 101: Energy and Symbolism

Symbols are more than just images, more than colors, shapes, or even tools. For the magickal practitioner, each symbol is an energetic flashcard, granting immediate access to a particular “flavor” of energy. In this class you'll learn how to energetically access symbols, how to store energy for later use, and how to utilize everything from the clothes and jewelry you wear to your body language as a tool to access energy. Along the way we'll consider how to tap into a wide range of natural energy sources, how to shift energy with ease from one dynamic vibration to another, and how to remove the natural “filters” that we have that prejudice how we see, interact, and interpret the energy around us.

Class: Working With Sacred Space

Whether we have a favorite beam of sunlight where we do our morning meditation or an elaborate personal altar that we change with the passing seasons, we don't often consciously recognize that we're working with sacred space. In this class we'll look at the principles and concepts of sacred space, explore how to use sacred space to deepen our spiritual experiences, and navigate our way through the sacred landscape, from shamanic sacred sites to creating sacredness in the smallest corner of your own home.

Magick 101: Tools and Constructs

Tools and constructs allow the magickal practitioner to set aside a reserve of specific energy and tap into as needed. The easiest way to understand this is to think of the wands in the movie Harry Potter. In that (fictitious) reality, the students were unable to work magick without access to their wand. In our reality, tools and constructs simply enhance, focus, or empower our natural ability to utilize magickal energy. In this class we'll learn to work with traditional magickal tools, we'll set up an altar and learn how its symbolism translates directly into ritual work, and we'll learn how to create our own tools and energy constructs to use in our own magickal practices.

Class: Things That Go Bump in the Night

If you take ten random people off the street and ask them whether they believe in ghosts, spirits, and such, a little less than half will tell you, "No." But if you ask those same ten people whether they've ever experienced something that they can't explain - a ghostly visitation, a cold spot in a warm house accompanied by chills, a visit in a dream that came true the next day - all ten will tell you, "Yes."

In this class, we step beyond myth and superstition, looking instead at what is out there beyond our casual senses. We'll consider everything from ghosts and nature spirits (including faeries and their kin) to the concepts of angels and demons. Discussion will include personal stories, the stripping away of mythology, the consideration of a spiritual ecosystem, and a handful of photographs taken by the instructor.

Magick 101: Rituals and Spellwork

Class: Totem Animals

There is a belief that each of us has a totem animal - an animal that our spirit resonates with that symbolizes the core of who we are. It is believed that our totem animal holds many lessons for us, from learning how to embrace our strengths and be true to our own calling to methods of dealing with conflict and the challenges that appear in our lives.

The instructor was trained as a shaman by a Native American (Mi'kmaq) woman and has been working with totem animals for more than twenty years. In this class, we'll not only find your totem animal through a group guided meditation, but we'll consider a number of ways that you can work with that animal, applications that can be used not only for personal growth, but that will change how you see your all of your interactions, from your home to the office. In the process, you'll gain a deeper understanding, not only of yourself, but how you interact with those around you and how they respond to your presence.
