Pagan Snapshots: Altars

In the Sylvan Tradition, there are two types of altars. The first is the Circle altar, the altar that the group uses for joint ceremonies. Typically, this is placed in the center of the Circle, facing North, although when used in the Wild, its placement varies upon the terrain and the energy of the sacred site. The second type of altar is the path altar. This is used as a personal focus point for energy and magic.

The Circle altar is typically a neutral zone that is used to hold ritual tools and supplies. Indoors, the altar is placed in the center of the Circle and faces North, though outdoors, it is placed in accordance with the energy and terrain of the sacred sites. Tools are laid on the altar in their corresponding directions.
