Unlike herbs that heighten your senses and personal abilities, stones add to them. Where herbs work within your being, stones are an outside energy source that you can readily draw from. (The process by which you can access this energy is outlined in detail in stones).
Because they are an exterior source of energy, stones can also be used to symbolize different elements in your rituals and spellwork. I have known witches that use stones instead of candles at the Quarters of their Circle, and I often use them on my altar or as a part of the rite itself.
Below you will find a list of the stones that I use and the properties that I associate with them. If you interact with a specific stone in a different manner than listed here, feel free to use your own correspondences. What is important is that they aid you in your work. The properties listed here are simply the way stones work for me.
| Quartz | Air | Meditative, focusing and directing energy. |
| Agate | Air | Spiritual insight. | Beach Glass | Air, Fire, Water, Earth | Transformative. Used in spellwork. | River Stones | Earth/Water & sometimes Air and/or Fire | Embodies natural energy. Perfect choice for a witness stone. | Iron-based | Earth | Used as "energy containers." |
