If you're interested in using one of our articles on your site or in your publication, simply drop Jeffrey at detail at jeffrey@oldways.com. We're usually very accommodating about such things.

All of our writers retain full copyright of their work. That said, it's usually easy for Jeffrey to coordinate things with them than for the writers to have to coordinate it with Jeffrey to stay within the submission guidelines.

Submissions

If you'd like to write for Old Ways, chances are we'd love to share your voice with our readers. We're a volunteer effort and have chosen to keep the site advertisement free, so we don't pay our writers for their submissions.

When you submit an article for consideration, you're granting us exclusive publication rights for two weeks, beginning on the day that your article appears on the front page (http://www.oldways.com/index.html) as well as the right to keep the article as a permanent part of oldways.com. After the two week period exclusive rights period has expired, you're absolutely welcome to submit your article to other publications, so long as it does not violate our right to keep your article as a permanent part of our site.

We accept submissions in essentially every format known to man, from text (.txt) files to Word documents (.doc or docx) to Open Office documents (.odt) to simply pasted into the body of an email. We'll edit it on our end for readability but if the article is accepted for publication, we'll keep your ideas, vision, and core message intact. If the piece requires significant editing, we'll return it to you for your approval before publication.

All of our articles are published using the author's real name.

If you'd like to be a regular contributor we need you to commit to writing two articles a month. You'll also need to submit a photo for our contact page. All of our regular contributors are offered an email account (firstname@oldways.com).

To get started, write your first piece and send it to jeffrey@oldways.com. It usually takes a week to ten days for us to go over your article and let you know if it's something that fits with our vision.
